Newsletter 9 - 11th November 2022

Dear Parents and Carers,

Remembrance

This week we have discussed Remembrance with the children, exploring what it means to them. Thank you to the year 6 children who read poems and prayers in our special collective worship and to everyone who has bought poppies and other items to support the work of the Royal British Legion.   Poppies, pins and other items are still available to buy in school or from the office.

Anti-Bullying Week

Next week is national Anti-Bullying Week. The theme of ‘Reach Out!’ will be explored in classes as we focus on encouraging all children to support one another. In order to change bullying, we need to challenge it and this starts by reaching out.

School Trips

Years 3, 4 and 5 have all been on school trips this week bringing learning to life so do check out class pages for photos.  Year 3 visited Butser Ancient Farm and Years 4 and 5 enjoyed a trip to the Winchester Science Centre & Planetarium.  We received lots of positive feedback about how well the children behaved.  They were such a credit to Holy Trinity School!  Thank you to all of our parent helpers who made these trips possible.

Have a lovely weekend.

Mrs Griffith

Generous Reader

Thank you to Isis in Year 6 for donating the books she reads to others!  Isis has been working her way through the recommended reading lists and as she finishes a book she donates it to school for others to read in Years 4, 5 and 6.  Thank you Isis for your kind generosity in sharing your books.

PTA News

We’re only a couple of weeks away until one of the biggest PTA fundraisers – the annual Christmas Fair. Rather than sending out lots of individual messages, we thought it would make life easier to list out the various donation requests which will make the fair a success.

To be clear, there is absolutely no obligation here, please just give what you can and remember you can always give the gift of time
😊. We are looking for volunteers to help man the class stands (ask your reps for details) and the bar (see Classlist to sign-up).

Christmas Hamper contribution – your class reps will let you know your theme; there is a box in each classroom to leave donations

• Individually wrapped sweets for the Sweetie Tombola – bags to fill will come home with the children

• Bottle for the Bottle Tombola – donate a bottle on mufti day, Friday 25 November

• Pre-loved
Christmas Jumpers – don’t bin it, donate it! We’ll have a stall where you can re-stock on the day and bags will be in classrooms to collect these.

Secrets Room – donate a small gift (new or pre-loved) and we’ll help the children to buy and wrap a secret present for someone they love in the Secrets Room

Other things to look out for …..

  • We’re road-testing a new way of paying for items at the fair. Instead of frantically hoarding coins, you can now purchase tokens worth £1 each and pay for items using your tokens at the stalls. We’ll be selling tokens both on the day and in advance. But don’t worry if you’re a fan of cold, hard cash; there will be an option to pay traditionally as well.
  • After their popularity last year, we’ll be offering you the chance to order a Christmas Wreath to brighten your front door. Order forms coming soon.
  • Finally, we mustn’t forget the auction and raffle. Raffle tickets will come home with the children as usual and we’re looking into the best option to share our amazing auction prizes, stay tuned for that.

Hope to see as many of you as possible – plus your friends and families – on Saturday 26 November.

Thank you
The PTA Committee
