Newsletter 20 - 10th February 2023

Dear Parents and Carers,

We have arrived at half term and the signs of Spring are slowly showing too.

Thank you to Year 4 parents for joining us for their Class Assembly this week. It really is a joy to be able to provide these opportunities for you to come into school and for the children to experience presenting their learning to you.

We hope you all enjoy a lovely half term week and we’ll see you back in school on Monday 20th February.

Mrs Griffith

Calling Avid Bookworms – World Book Day Celebration on Friday 3rd March

Are you an avid reader? Do you long to share your love of books with children? If so, please contact your child’s class teacher to arrange a slot on Friday 3rd March to come into your child’s class and read / discuss your favourite book (age appropriate please).  Many thanks.

Maths Competition

Well done to our Year 6 boys who took part in a Maths competition at St Johns Beaumont Prep School in Englefield Green on Monday this week.  Benoit has this report to share:

'There were two teams for our school: Theo and James in one and Benoit and Matthew in the other.  There were 38 pairs.  Benoit and Matthew came 6th whilst Theo and James came 7th.  The three rounds were 'Find the Value', 'Counting Down' and 'The Big Event'.  Every question answered correctly was worth a certain amount of points.  To submit your answer, you had to walk to the marker, walk to the back of the room and walk back to your table; however if you got it incorrect they would tell you to try again.  There was a timer for each round and if you finished it within that time you got bonus points - coming first in your column got you 10 bonus points, second got you 8 and third got you 6.  At the end we got a doughnut and an apple juice.
