Newsletter 20 - 5th February 2021

Dear Parents and Carers,
We hope the children have enjoyed Express Yourself week. Celebrating what makes them happy and finding ways to be themselves. To celebrate this further, we are inviting the children to wear an outfit to express themselves next Friday. Clearly, most children are in MUFTI every day at the moment, but we thought it would be a lovely way to connect as a community. So, we look forward to seeing your creative outfits next Friday Holy Trinity!
Next week is the last week before our half-term break. We were hopeful that we would be able to re-open after half-term, but as we know, it will be 8th March at the earliest before we can welcome you all back through the gates. The Government will be making an announcement on 15th February and we hope this will give us guidance as to how and when we will re-open. We will, of course, communicate details of our re-opening with you as soon as we are able.

Click here for today's assembly and to see our Stars of the Week!

We have cancelled the INSET day on 22nd February and re-scheduled it for Monday 7th June 2021.  Remote learning provision will re-commence after the half term break on Monday 22nd February.

As Charlie Mackesy says in his book ‘The Boy, the Mole, the Fox and the Horse’:

“What do you think is the biggest waste of time?” “Comparing yourself to others” said the mole.

Let’s remind our children (and ourselves) how unique and valuable we all are.
Best wishes for a contented weekend,
Mrs Griffith

KS Bubble Activities

The KS1 and Reception Class group have been working hard in school. On Thursday morning they did the Sunningdale trail set up by Mrs Tomes. They also did some cooking and made 'Rocky Road' as a link to the year 2 topic work.
At Forest school they enjoyed building a bridge over a large muddy puddle, some bird watching and experimenting with the musical instruments.

Year 2 - Mad About the Rainforest

Our topic this term has been The Rainforest. We have built rainforest dioramas, written short stories, learned about lots of different rainforest animals and made posters about deforestation. This week has been 'chocolate week' and as part of this we have found out about where chocolate comes from, we've designed our own chocolate bars and baked some deliciously chocolatey goodies! Next week we are having a virtual school trip to Cadbury World which we hope will be exciting and help us with our learning.

Miss Prince & Miss Hing are so proud of all of you - you're all home learning heroes!

Year 3 Learn About the Egyptians

Year 3 have been learning about Egyptian pyramids this week.  Here are our fact files and pyramid designs to ward off tomb robbers!

Darcy-Rose - Community Hero!

This week Darcy-Rose has been litter picking which was all her own idea.  She picked up two biG bags of rubbish - well done Darcy-Rose!

Year 4's Ravenous Readers

Please see below for this week's Year 4 Ravenous Readers with the books they've been reading:

5C Space Work

Some children in 5C have been busy finding out what happens to the human body when we travel into space!

5W Budding Photographer Thomas Br

Thomas Br in class 5W recently wrote to Miss Wallbanks to say:

'I just wanted to tell you that I have recently completed a 4 week photography course on-line. The photography teacher is from America. My cousin was on the course too and 3 other children from America.

I leant about different compositions for taking photographs - symmetry, empty space and guiding lines. I also learnt about different settings on my camera and how to direct your subject if it is a person or an animal. I really enjoyed the course.

Here are a few photographs that I took around Virginia Water Lake for my course projects. I hope you like them.'

Well done Thomas - we love your beautiful photos!

Ascot Racecourse - Art Competition

Each year, Holy Trinity takes part in the Ascot Racecourse Art Competition.  Winning entries are turned into large colourful boards which are used to line the Heath Tunnel for Royal Ascot!  You will probably have heard about this in your classes this week but please see here for details and for a frame to complete your art work on.  Please check class pages (where you will also find a frame to download) for more details.

PTA News

Apologies for the radio silence in January but we’ve been busy getting to grips with home schooling along with the rest of you!  We hope you are all well and staying safe.

Although we weren’t able to hold our usual Christmas Fair, we still managed to raise a significant amount - £3,723.85.  Thank you for all your support!

We have been approached by a company who are making 'Home School Survivor' hoodies which we thought could be quite fun for the children, as well as parents to order as a memento - we are the survivors as well!

Please click on the link below to view the colours, size chart and to place your order.  The hoodies can be personalised to include your name.  Cost is £25 including P&P.

The PTA will receive 20% of the sale price so please make sure you put HOLY TRINITY SUNNINGDALE in the School box on the order form, to ensure the order is allocated correctly.
