Sponsored Sports Event - Monday 13th June

You will have received a letter from Miss Harding this week about our sponsored sports event on Monday 13th June which will be led by visiting athlete Nerys Pearce.  Sponsorship forms went home with children yesterday (if not today). Funds raised will go towards improving our sports equipment and supporting athletes like Nerys.  Some children have set up sponsorship pages already!  Please do have a good look at the letter and posters around the school if you haven't already.  Children have loved these events and found the visiting athletes really inspiring in the past so we're really looking forward to meeting Nerys on the 13th.  Read more about Nerys (who has won 10 Gold Medals at the Invictus Games) here.

The Mayor's Tea Party

To celebrate the Platinum Jubilee, the Mayor issued an invitation for each school to send two children to a Tea Party at the Windsor Guildhall on Monday 23rd May.  Names were pulled from a 'hat' and Thomas in Y3 and Connie in Y6 were given the invitation to go!  Hopefully this will be a great memory of the Jubilee year (the Editor still remembers the Silver Jubilee very clearly!) Here are some pictures:

Class 1 RE

Class 1 had a lovely morning with Mrs Hodge learning about the weekly Jewish celebration of Shabbat and her family traditions.

We lead such busy lives in the week – it is a time to stop as a family and reflect.  Mrs Hodge read us a story and lit the shabbat candles and spoke the blessing in Hebrew where we made three big circles praying for peace, hope and love and then we covered our eyes with our hands.  We also enjoyed tasting the Challah Bread!  Class 1 asked LOTS of wonderful questions about her life in a Jewish school and whether they really couldn’t use any electronics during their Sabbath!  Thank you Mrs Hodge for coming and sharing with us your wonderful family celebration.

Year 5 Residential Trip

Last week Year 5 went to stay at Leeson House Field Studies Centre near Swanage in Dorset.  The centre is in the area of the Jurassic Coast World Heritage Site and perfect for field trips.  Year 5 worked really hard on their field projects as you can see:

Here is Isis - this week's Ravenous Reader!

Footballing Success (and some Fabulous Sportsmanship)

On Saturday we made it to the Under 11 girls' Football Final.  After a tense game of 50 minutes the score was 0-0.  We went straight to penalties which ended 7-7.  The coaches decided to call it a draw.  So nobody was disappointed.  We are sharing the Cup for 6 months each and we all got gold medals!

Charan Donates Hair to Little Princess Trust

On Saturday 14th May, Charan cut over 12 inches of her hair and donated it to the Little Princess Trust. The Little Princess Trust provides free real hair wigs to children who have lost their own hair through cancer treatment or other conditions. Charan then aimed to fundraise £550 to help the charity to make the wig. She did so well in fundraising that she went past this total and raised a staggering £764.00. Well done Charan!

Aleena, Ayden and Zahra - Taekwondo

Aleena, Ayden and Zahra all successfully graded in Taekwondo this week.  Aleena and Ayden were graded at 7 kup.

Zahra graded at 9 kup (she is the youngest student to grade at only 5yrs old!) and was also awarded student of the class.
