Newsletter 29 - 3rd May 2019

We're well in to the summer term now with preparations underway for plenty of school trips and other activities.  In big news this week, the PTA announce a brilliant new fund raising tool - The School Lottery!  There'll be a prize within the school community and a bigger national prize to play for every week.  Forty per cent of monies spent on the lottery will come back to the school to provide extra resources for the children.  Please see all the details below in this week's newsletter and in a separate email from school.  Mrs Lawson has just signed up and it was very straightforward.  She is already planning her next holiday with the winnings smiley.

We hope you enjoy the long weekend!

Year 3 Learn About Rivers

This term year 3 are learning about rivers. 3C really enjoyed making their own rivers and learning new words to describe a river. They should now be able to tell you what a confluence, tributary, meander and floodplain is! Their engagement and excitement was clear and it was great to see them learning outside. A big thank you goes to Mr Fettes for donating the materials we needed to do this learning.

Year 6 Visit Harry Potter World

Year 6 had a fantastic time at Warner Brothers Studios on Wednesday exploring all things magical.  Look out next week for a full write up of our trip!

Maths Calculation Workshops

Thank you for coming along to our Maths Calculation Workshops and we hope you found them useful.

Videos of the calculations will be available soon on our school website in the Video Resource Centre which can be found in the Children's Zone:
https://holy-trinity-ce-primary.primarysite.media/

There are already 4 videos on there so please take a look and more will follow.

Our new calculation policy will also soon be available on the website too.

Miss Wallbanks

A Thank You from Miss Glenister

Miss Glenister successfully completed the London Marathon last Sunday and seems to have recovered remarkably quickly! She would like to say a huge thank you to everyone for the support and donations received for the National Autistic Society.  Holy Trinity families have donated over £200 for which she is very grateful.  If you'd like to make a donation and haven't got around to it yet, please find the link here:

And a Thank You from Braywick Court School, Maidenhead

Further to the PTA World Book Sale, our PTA answered a plea for books from Braywick Court School and all the books left over from the sale were taken there.  This week we received an email from the school:

'On behalf of Braywick Court School we would like to say a big Thank you for your book donations.
We are looking forward to moving to our new site and the books you have donated are most welcome in our new library.
Thank you again'

Who is Picking Your Child up from School?

For safeguarding reasons please let your child's teacher know if someone different will be picking your child up from school.  If you forget in the morning, please call the school office as early as possible in the school day so that a message can be passed on.  Thank you for your help with this.

PTA - Your School Lottery

The PTA are committed to reviewing all options for raising much needed funds and, following feedback from a number of parents and after approval from School and the Governors, we have joined ‘Your School Lottery’.

‘Your School Lottery’ is a vetted organisation and allows players to support their local school directly. As a supporter, you can join for as little as £1 per week and for this you will then have the chance of winning a guaranteed weekly prize for someone within the school community. The more people that participate, the bigger this guaranteed prize becomes and the more money raised for our school. On top of this, you will also be entered into a separate draw with a chance to win an amazing £25,000 every week!
Every Saturday, both of these draws will take place with results posted on the ‘Your School lottery’ website. Winners for both draws will be advised directly and will be paid automatically. All you need is to be over 16 and have a bank account, so please share with others in the community who may be interested in joining. Our first Lottery will start on 1st June 2019 and everyone who signs up this term will also be entered into a draw to win an Amazon Echo, Fire TV Stick, Echo Dot and Fire HD 8.

Joining ‘Your School lottery’ is easy. Just go to https://www.yourschoollottery.co.uk/play and follow the instructions. You’ll receive your tickets within minutes.

How does the draw work?
There are 2 chances for you to win every week.
When you start supporting, you get your own unique 6 digit ticket number. You can purchase more than one number if you wish. The more numbers that are issued within our school community, the bigger the prize becomes. Each school will have its own weekly draw which only their supporters are entered into. This means that someone from within our school community is guaranteed to win every week.. The size of the prize will be published on the ‘Your School Lottery’ website in the lead up to each weekly draw.
On top of this, a separate weekly draw will take place where 6 numbers (each being 0 to 9), will be drawn at random. If your six digit number(s) matches the six numbers drawn in sequence, then you’ve won £25,000!
And finally, in contrast to the National lottery, who only pass on 28p in every pound, or the Health Lottery who pass on 20p to good causes, ‘Your School Lottery’ promises a minimum PTA contribution of 40%!

Your School Lottery is administered by Gatherwell, a registered External Lottery Manager certified by the Gambling Commission. Gambling Commission Registration No: 000-036893-R-317859-008 · VAT Registration No: 195 0148 06

PTA News

Winkworths have kindly agreed to sponsor the school fair again this summer. This generates more funds than any other activity in the fair so every household’s participation is crucial to help raise the much needed financial support for the school. To reduce the administrative burden we will be automatically registering those houses who agreed to take a board last time.  If you do not wish to have a board for the Summer Fair,  please email Mark D’Costa on

thedcostas@outlook.com or your class rep accordingly. If you recommended a friend or family member to have a board the last time around, can you please confirm they are ok to have one again this time?

The boards will go up two weeks before the fair and will be removed one week afterwards.

If you are able to support the fundraising effort and didn’t last time please do let Mr D'Costa know!

Dates for the calendar - Summer Term:
Monday 13th May - Final PTA meeting of the Year (agenda Summer Fair and Picnic).
Saturday 29th June - PTA Summer Fair

Class Reps will be in touch shortly with planned activities.

Please support your class by offering half an hour of your time on the day to allow the Class Reps to enjoy the event with their families. If every family donates 30 minutes it really does make such a difference.

Friday 5th July - School Family Picnic (back up date Friday 12th July).

Date for the Future - Sunday 15th September - HTS Fest - Holy Trinity Church Summer Festival (was the church Party in the Park) - Small toy/gift tombola with all proceeds from that stall going to the PTA.
