Newsletter 29 - 3rd May 2024

Dear Parents and Carers,

A huge well done to Year 2 for their Class Assembly yesterday.  Next Thursday (9th May) at 9am it is Year 1’s turn.  Families are very welcome and please come through the back door on Church Road from drop off.

Circle Gallery in Sunninghill

Jane, from the Circle Gallery, has put on display a selection of art from our Amanda Padfield art inspired day.  The art will be on display over the bank holiday window for our community to enjoy!   This has been a wonderful collaboration within our community and we are very proud of all the children’s unique creations.

Have a wonderful bank holiday weekend!  We will see you on Tuesday!

With best wishes

Mrs Carmel Barnes

Art produced by winners and runners up in each age category will be turned in to large boards which will line the Heath Tunnel in time for Royal Ascot.  Winners and Runners Up are invited to attend the  Victoria Cup Raceday on 11th May for a celebratory presentation tea. Congratulations Margot!

Y4 House Netball Competition

Year 4 participated in a house netball competition. This was the first time many of the children had played netball competitively. They did incredibly well remembering the play areas for the various positions, and there was some great shooting and defending too. Well done to everyone.

Fantastic Footballers

On Monday, two teams from years 3 & 4 took part in a boys football tournament at LVS. Our A team came third out of eight teams reaching the semi-finals. They played nine games, winning seven games and drawing one. Our B team came sixth out of eight teams. They played eight games, winning three and drawing two. There were great goals from Max, Jake, Husyan, Corick, Gabriel, Jacob, Aidan, Leo, Buster, Zen and Zach, and some super saves too! Well done to all the boys and thank you to Mrs Hunt for attending the tournament with them.

Allotment Update

What a difference a few weeks of warmer weather has made !? We now have lots and lots of seedlings and plants just waiting for the risk of frost to pass...

A belated thank you to Mia in year 2 and her Mummy, who took great care of allotment over Easter, and they were even able to harvest some salad leaves.

The children have been picking and tasting purple Kale, sprouting broccoli and mange tout this week. The tulips are coming to an end but dahlias are ready and waiting to wow us through summer.

Sow Day - Friday 10th May

Please look out for our next Sow Day will be at 3.15pm on the playground on Friday 10th May when Mrs Patel will be providing pumpkin seeds to sow at home.

Savan - Henley Triathalon

Savan will be taking part in the Henley Triathlon again this year to raise money for the PTA.  Last year Savan raised enough money to pay for the polytunnel and more!

Please take a look at his sponsorship page and donate whatever you can, and please do share the page and help him smash last years total. Many thanks.
