Letter from the Department of Education

We were delighted to receive a letter this week from the Secretary of State for Education congratulating us on the levels achieved in Maths in KS2 SATs last year:

Year 1 Celebrate a 100 Days!

Class 1 celebrated their 100th day in year 1 on Wednesday.  We had a maths morning doing lots of counting in 2’s, 5’s and 10s, making necklaces, creating cup sculptures and decorating a 100 biscuits!  We had great fun!

Year 3 Attend an Egyptian Workshop at Eton College

On Monday 11th February Year 3 went to Eton College and they had a museum and we went to a Egyptian workshop, but first we looked around an amazing chapel.

Then a lady called Saskia, an education officer, came to get us. She walked us down a road to the museum. When we got there she showed us an artefact that they used for eye make up.

Then we did some activities. We did a hieroglyphics hunt, drew what we would like in the afterlife and learnt about the Egyptian gods through a game of pairs. Then we had a look around the museum.

Report by Evie - Class 3G

Miss Glenister and Miss Cullen would like to say a huge thank you to all the staff and parent volunteers who came with us, the trip could not have gone ahead without them. The classes were really well behaved and it was a pleasure to take them to Eton College, one of the masters even commented on how well behaved they were!

Explore the Three Museums of Eton College

Year 3 enjoyed the museums of Eton College which come highly recommended.  The museums are The Museum of Eton Life, The Natural History Museum and The Museum of Antiquities.  All are open on Sundays from 2.30 - 5pm and admission is free.  Please see here for more information https://www.etoncollege.com/collegecollections.aspx

Year 4 Greek Day

Year 4 immersed themselves in everything Ancient Greek on Thursday this week with various activities including cooking!  Please see a couple of photos below:

World Book Day

World Book Day is on 7th March and this year we'll be asking children to bring in a book they like and know well and to dress up as a character from the book!  The PTA will also be running a book sale in the hall in the afternoon with books on sale for 50p.  Donations of books welcome from 4th March onwards - many thanks.

Head Lice

We have reported cases of head lice in school again.  Please take the opportunity in half term to do a spot of bug busting!

PTA Disco

The PTA Disco has been rescheduled to 29th March.  This is the same evening as the pre-school quiz and so timings might be changed slightly.  Please pay for tickets on Parent Pay if you haven't already - many thanks.
