Newsletter 12 - 1st December 2023

Dear Parents and Carers,

Thank you for your tremendous support with the Christmas Fair! It was wonderful to see so many turn up and enjoy the event. Once again, thanks go to the PTA and all the parents for donating, organising and supporting.

Film Night

Film Night is happening on Tuesday 5th December. Please register on ParentPay if you would like your child to attend. Children can be collected from their classrooms at 4.15pm.  Films are:

This is happening Friday 8th December 4pm – 7pm at Broomhall Park. Miss Wallbanks and Mrs Barnes will be attending with the choir, so do come along and feel festive!  Our Head Boy and Head Girl have the honour of switching on the lights at 6pm!

Reception Class Nativity

We look forward to welcoming Reception Class parents into school next Friday morning (for a 9.15am start via the hall door on Church Road) for Reception Class’s Nativity performance.

Enjoy the weekend,

Year 3 Netball Tournament

Last Friday, Mrs Whiter had the pleasure of taking the Year 3 girls to a netball tournament at the Marist School.   This was the girls first experience of netball and playing together as a team.  Over the matches they showed super passion and team spirit coming 6th out of 8 teams.    Well done girls we are super proud of you!

Uniform Deliveries

The free delivery option to school on uniform deliveries will be suspended over the Christmas break.  The last delivery to school will be on Weds 13th December, resuming on Weds 10th January.  You can still order over Christmas for delivery to home with a postage and packing charge.

Christmas Lunch - Wednesday 13th December

Please see details of our festive lunch below.

Christmas Parties!

The children will have their class Christmas Parties in the last week of term as per the school calendar (also see list of dates below).  There's nothing for you to do for this other than to remember that children can wear their own clothes to school that day.  Parties clothes are fine but please make sure shoes are sensible for playing outside at break and lunchtimes.

PTA News

We are so grateful to all who attended and supported the Christmas Fair last weekend. We raised over £5,800 in takings! A big thank you to all the parents and families who extended their hand to help in the preparations, the running of the stalls and the tidy up. A special thanks to Mrs Hill who works behind the scenes to clear and clean down after hours and on the weekend after these events!

The super efforts of the Y1 parents who re-instated Santa's Grotto completely transformed the Happy Hub and made it unrecognisable and we now have some new and (safely stored) beautiful decorations that can be used again and again! See the Christmas Fair Highlights reel.

Winners from the Year 6 stall were:

Harry Class 6 - won guess the teddy’s name

Peyton Class 2 - won guess the number of sweets in the jar

Ollie Class 5 - won best score for curling game

A few special mentions: to Breckenridge Lettings who advertised for us and supplied the grand prize of the iPad (won by the Hamilton family)! And Derek Baker who arranged for Perfetti Van Melle to supply all the sweets for the Tombola (so we all didn't have to!)

The Christmas Fair wouldn't be a fair for all the family without a fully stocked bar and kitchen full of treats! A big thank you to Stuart Temple for arranging with Royal Ascot Golf Club in providing all the moreish mulled wine, Lewis of Sunningdale for providing the delicious sausages and Stephanie Knight who arranged and cooked the meat and turkey that was donated by WilsonJones.

Chief Wreath-Maker Amanda Southgate joined by a small but industrious army of wreath-making experts has now finished the beautiful and magnificent-looking wreaths for the season and it's down to the sustainable philosophy of re-use, reduce and recycle that make these wreaths green in so many ways!

We have decided to extend the closing date of the Silent Auction 2013 to 8th December  we will be at the Sunningdale Christmas Lights Switch-On to take your bids, alongside a fun Holy Trinity stall! We're aware we've been relentless on the comms and we thank for indulging us to fundraise for the school and as always we welcome your feedback to htpta@outlook.com.

Gardening Club Update

The allotment plot is starting to take shape, the children have worked so hard and with such enthusiasm.

They have built another section of “dead hedge”, to protect a small herb garden from footballs, and decorated (not decimated!) the entrance archway and the bug snugs are looking great.

This week we have applied to the Tree Council for some fruit trees and fruiting hedgerow, which should arrive in February…

The children were also awarded the Royal Horticultural Society Level 1 gardening award. Sam in Year 5 wrote a lovely piece about the benefits of gardening, as part of the evidence we submitted for the award!
