Newsletter 39 - 17th July 2020

The Farewell Edition

Dear Parents and Carers,

Today's newsletter is about saying goodbye.  We are sad to say goodbye to Mrs O'Brien who has been a dynamic and popular headteacher!  Staff and children at her new school are very lucky to have her joining them in September.  We would also like to say farewell to those children and families leaving us for different climes - we wish you so much love and luck as you settle in to your new environments.  And of course, good luck to our amazing Year 6 Class who leave us to join various new schools in September!  Although you weren't able to have the finish we had planned for you, we hope you had fun here with your friends in the last few weeks nonetheless.   We hope you enjoy Manika's poem below.

As we come to the end of a very strange year, we’d like to thank you for your support, cards, gifts and kind comments.
We have been really pleased to be able to welcome Year 4W, 4H and Y2 back this week for their visits. It’s been such a joy to see their happiness at being reunited with friends and teachers.
Yesterday, you received an email detailing our plans for September. If you have missed it please find the information on our website here. You will also receive a letter from your child’s September class teacher with relevant information.
Today, you are receiving your child’s end of year School Report via email.
We hope you and your families have a wonderful summer break. We look forward to seeing you on 2nd September.
You will have seen the video message from Mrs O’Brien; we wish her all the best as she takes on a new venture. Thank you for all you have done for Holy Trinity over the past 6 years.

Mrs O'Brien's Farewell

Dear Parents,
For me, the past 6 years have flown by and such a lot has happened during that time.  I just wanted to say thank you to all those who have supported us and made a positive contribution to Holy Trinity School and in bringing the community together.
I have really enjoyed my time here and wish everyone the best of health and happiness.
Many thanks to those who sent parting gifts of which I am truly thankful and appreciative of.
Have a wonderful summer and farewell to everyone!
Pamela O’Brien

Message from the School Governors

Our Co-Headteacher Mrs O’Brien will be leaving us at the end of this term and we would like to thank her for the drive and enthusiasm that she bought to our school. Mrs O’Brien joined Holy Trinity School in September 2014 and has led the transformation of the school in terms of building and the organisation. From relocating the Reception area and offices to the front of the school, overseeing the building of a new classroom to creating the Pastoral Hub and revamping the outdoor learning spaces for the children, the school has undergone a lot of change! During her time here, Mrs O’Brien led the school to achieve its outstanding SIAMS inspection amongst many other accolades. We would like to take this opportunity to thank her for the passion and energy that she has put into Holy Trinity School. We wish her all the best at her new school and for the future.

Thank You from Mrs Hill

Mrs Hill would like to say thank you so much for her gifts -  she was so delighted to have received thank you gifts this end of term.

Bags 2 School

Many of us have had a good clear out during lockdown and if you have space and are able to keep 'stuff' we'd be very grateful if you could keep it for our Bags 2 School collection scheduled for Wednesday 23rd September.  Bags will be distributed in early September but any bag will do.  Bags need to be dropped off by 9am on the day itself so we will work out how we take these bags from you when we see how the revised drop off procedures are working in practice.  The PTA are paid by weight so every little counts and maybe this will turn out to be a bumper collection!  Many thanks.

PTA News

Thank you to everyone for their support and help this year.  Unfortunately we have had to cancel some PTA events due to Covid-19 and sadly have not been able to fundraise as much as we had hoped this year. We are down a significant amount of money which is vital to next year's subscriptions for Bug Club, Mathletics and Spellodrome, our ability to commit to the new KS2 play area and many other events and activities the school may require support with.
Some parents have mentioned they would like to make a donation to the PTA so please note you can set up a Direct Debit for a one off or monthly payment to donate an amount of your choice which will be used towards next years funding - this really will help in a BIG way.
If you do decide you would like to donate like this, please check with your employer, as many employers will match donations to charities.

Don’t forget you can help us raise funds whilst doing your online shopping with Amazon Smile and Easyfundraising, it couldn’t be easier!
Easyfundraising – Many parents are already collecting free donations for the PTA every time they buy anything online with the UK’s leading online fundraising service, easyfundraising.  It’s simple to join, click here and join for free.  Every time you want to shop go to easyfundraising, find the site you want and start shopping.  When you check out Holy Trinity CE School Sunningdale PTA gets a donation, the site gives easyfundraising a percentage of what you spend and they turn that into a donation.
