It seems the homework books last week were a success as I have had a number of children asking me for more homework. Fingers crossed their enthusiasm lasts! Despite their requests, there is only some English and Maths this week. If the children do need more, please remind them to read every day and practise on Times Tables Rockstars.
I am looking forward to our Year 3 cake sale on Friday. I have quite a sweet tooth so will probably be first in the queue. We desperately need more glue sticks in class so I plan on buying a large box with the takings! Until then, if you have a glue stick at home, please could your child have it for their pencil case.
Our focus this week has been division. I have set a couple of activities on Mathletics to review dividing by 4s and discovering number patterns.
I have also provided a sheet in your child's pink homework book for completion. There are different sheets but they all addresses various maths concepts. Some children will have a question on time and one on fractions which your child may find difficult - please do not worry as we haven't addressed these yet in year 3. It will be interesting to see if they can answer these from their year 2 curriculum and general knowledge.
In class this week, we have been learning about the difference between vowels and consonants. We have then used this knowledge to help us decide whether to use 'a' or 'an' in a sentence.
To consolidate this learning, I have set a 2do game on Purple Mash. I have also included a sheet in your child's pink homework book. This looks at consonants before asking the children to spot mistakes in some sentences.
